How to find the right therapist

How do you go about finding the right kind of therapy?

I am overly sensitive to a near neighbour's noise which of course is worse on warmer / lighter days but know it is not unreasonable noise, that it's more me. For years I have said I want to change my anxiety/ intrusive thoughts and reactions and I think part of that process could be via CBT.

So how do I start the process of finding the right therapy / therapist?

I live in the London area but envisage this as online rather than f2f.

Advice would be much appreciated, thank you as I don't really know how to start

Try BACP and input what you are looking for help with. Contact the therapists you have shortlisted and have a chat. Therapy is really about your relationship with your therapist.

Start with the 'psychology today' website. You will find lists of therapists and their details. Most listing's will state the areas of expertise and their experience and qualifications. Send emails to those who mention the help you want and see who replies. Many have waiting lists and price may also be a consideration.

Has anyone had therapy for this kind of issue, just out of interest?

Counselling directory, you can search by postcode so you can go in person if you want to Smile

Read the bios, some do a low cost session as an introductory with no obligation
