Has anyone tried BWRT?

I'm feeling desperate and had this recommended to me. Has anyone tried it? Had a chat with a therapist but still unsure what it actually involves.

Weird that the website hasn't been updated in 4/5 years...

I had a look online and it apparently involves revisiting an event and imagining a better or neutral outcome.

I used that technique in EMDR when I got stuck in parts of a memory. My brain wouldn't let it go because I can't change it, it happened. So we worked on imagining a different ending. The way it was explained is that we can get stuck on visual parts of memories, and the technique works with that to visualise a different ending. It did help, along with the therapy, even though logically I know my alternative ending Couldn't happen. I suppose it plays into - these are my memories , they are in the past, I can imagine them however I want (reinforcing they are memories and not happening now and dont need to have power over me)

Thanks. I am considering EMDR as well. But therapist won't do it with me until I'm more stable, but I can't get stable until I've dealt with my issues, so feel completely stuck!

I did some training in it some time ago. It can get great results. It’s hard to describe it works. It’s kind of like rewiring your brain so it runs on different pathways . Terence Watts developed it . He is a very well respected man in his field with a lot of experience and has trained thousands of people.

Thank you. I think I annoyed the therapist by keeping asking what it actually involved. I felt like she was being really cagey which scared me. What do you actually do in a session?

It's very hard to explain. It's a bit like re wiring your brain by revisiting memories and reprogramming them. There is nothing traumatic about it, but you can't apply logic to how it works. It's repeating phrases mostly.

@Nothingtosayhere not wishing to be rude but if you did some training in it you should be able to explain exactly how it works and why.

I did the training about ten years ago.
