Nature walks work

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something that's been helping me recently, in case it resonates with anyone. Going through menopause and having a hysterectomy at a young age has been incredibly challenging for my mental health over the years. But one thing that has truly made a difference is my daily nature walks with my dog.

Walking through the park has become so much more than just exercise—it’s like a free form of therapy for me. The natural beauty around me, whether it’s the beautiful green trees or the peaceful flow of a stream, helps me feel grounded in the present moment. It’s a reminder that there’s so much beauty in the world, even during difficult times.
The sounds of nature like the chirping of birds and the gentle rustling of leaves feel like a kind of meditation. It quiets my anxious mind and brings me a sense of peace. And breathing in the fresh air, is so soothing for the soul.

Over time, I’ve noticed how much these walks have improved my overall mindset. They’ve helped me to slow down and be present. These moments of mindfulness bring me peace and allow me to reconnect with myself on a deeper level. Nature has also helped me feel more resilient. Seeing how the seasons change, how flowers bloom after a harsh winter, has been a gentle reminder of how strong we can be. It’s helped me put my struggles into perspective and recognise that tough times will eventually pass.

Physically, these walks have been a great way to walk off my anxiety and stress, even on the days where I really didn’t feel up to it, they always make me feel better. The routine of physical exercise and walking in nature, breathing the fresh air and the act of simply getting out of the house lifts my mood. Seeing other people enjoying the outdoors with their dogs and chatting to them has made me feel less lonely and reminds me that I am not alone. It has also helped me to feel more connected to my local community. Being in nature has also sparked a sense of gratitude in me. I feel thankful for the little things—the beauty of a sunrise, the bond with my dog, and this gratitude helps me better appreciate the things i have.

It may seem like such a small thing, but this daily practice has worked wonders for me, even on tough days. It’s reminded me that healing doesn’t have to come from big, drastic changes. Sometimes, it’s about finding small moments of peace and joy in your day. I hope that sharing this can inspire anyone going through a tough time to find your own small ways to reconnect with yourself.
Sending love to anyone who needs it.

That’s lovely OP I’m so glad it works for you. I totally agree that getting out for a daily walk is huge for mental well-being. ❤️

I love having a dog for this and I find you meet lots of other dog walkers too (depending on your area/how friendly your dog is!)
