Advice for sleeping

I'm 2 weeks into my new antidepressants which are making me sleepy at night . But not enough to get off to sleep as I also have new onset tinnitus . I'm trying to use white noise at night to mask .

I've posted on these boards a lot lately , and got lots of advice . It's been a really help. I'm starting to feel a little bit less anxious but am definitely anxious about my sleep and I need to let it go . Starting therapy next week.

I'm coming off zopliclone which I was given for 2-3 weeks with my antidepressants whilst I got used to them as my trigger for worsening MH was insomnia after a really bad year.
I've only had one night without in that time and didn't really sleep much, though the ADs definitely make it easier to get back to sleep eventually.

Tonight is my first night without sleeping tablets and I'm wondering if I should try taking something else like Valerian or Nytol instead just to get me off. I also have melatonin if I need to take.

I really don't want to take any more zopliclone though the last few days I've only been taking quarter of a tablet !
Has anyone got any advice ?
I can't take promethazine as had a bad reaction .
Wondering if should just go cold turkey with everything to try and reset sleeping naturally .
I am in a less anxious state but the week leading up to me taking the ADs was one I never want to repeat .

It helps to have good sleep hygiene. You could try magnesium and a hot bath before bed with Radox lavender. Chamomile tea and no screens.

Go to bed at the same time and wake at the same time. Make sure it's nice and dark and use an eye mask if not.

Ambient noise can be helpful or stories. You can get headband earphones.

Don't worry about not sleeping! If you lie awake fretting about the fact you are awake you will never drop off. Sleep is like breathing, you don't have to learn how to do it, you've been doing it since the day you were born.

Work on the basis that you are going to lie in a darkened room with nothing to do other than to rest and relax for several hours. With that mindset you are far more likely to drop off that if you are worrying.

Thanks for replies - should have said I'm being investigated for fatigue so managing on say 4 hours feels like no sleep to me - I think that's why I'm anxious but you are right , sleeping is normal and I do like my bed .

I like that mindset idea @Eyesopenwideawake
