I'm not great. I've been through a tough time the last couple of years with my mental health.

I'm finding it difficult to do anything and wondered how people got through this. Please no criticism as I'm looking for some support.

I've currently got agoraphobia and am spending all my time at home. I'm not doing much. I managed to clean the bathroom and kitchen yesterday - thank god. I've got to do the sitting room and bedroom.

I'm not on medication and was discharged from the crisis service. I don't feel depressed but can't get motivated. I'm no longer in therapy as I can't be bothered.

I'm eating well, cooking and ordering food which is good. The Dr said that my recovery would happen gradually so I'm kind of doing what I can.

I'm not really looking after myself, not washing and my hair is all matted. There's no sheets on my bed.

I don't have any support but have disengaged from support services as they were really unhelpful.

Any advice?

I think my goal before she comes is to have the house tidy. I've done most of it now. I've just got the bedroom to do.

Going for a walk is a great idea but I have agoraphobia. I've done quite a few mindfulness courses and used to meditate

I'm going to make a GP appointment and discuss medication with my Dr. I'll see how it goes.

I had agoraphobia for a while (started off as anxiety due to menopause then escalated really badly) so I really sympathise. Sertraline really helps me (appreciate you may have tried this one, and it’s not for everyone). Good luck, you are taking positive steps.

burn out?

Sorting the house sounds like priority number 1, then your hair after, then maintaining that and your other physical care is a habit you need to get back into before sorting out the sleep patterns. Once you've mastered all that then the agoraphobia can be addressed. You can't tackle every problem at once, it's too overwhelming for anyone. Step by step is the way forward.

Sorry to hear of your struggles OP. How old are you if you don't mind me asking? If 45+ I wonder if you have thought of trying HRT? It has helped me enormously with sleep and mood...

I'm in that age bracket but I don't believe it's menopause related. I have a history of mental health problems and had a breakdown where I was hospitalised and couldn't function.

I'm recovering from that which is why I was with the Crisis team. I'm better than I was and like I said, don't really feel depressed. I'm just completely unmotivated.

I'm feeling a bit better now I have tackled the tidying. I'm supposed to have an electricity check but have been putting it off because of the state of the place. I'll rearrange once the bedroom is done.

I don't know about being able to keep it up. I'll see what the Dr says. I've been with her for years so she's familiar with my case.

have you got some conditioner that you could put in your hair and let it sit it will soften it to help with knots. Big hugs there are some good suggestions on here.

Thanks for the encouragement, it's appreciated.

I've been busy. I've currently got some washing on. I've ordered new sheets for the bed. I did the econsult for the Dr. I contacted a MH organisation for advice. I bought some washing mits and a big bottle of conditioner for my hair.

Ah brilliant, just got to keep the momentum going, also maybe look at finding a hobby you enjoy doing, something old or something new. I also find that helps keep me going. I've been doing yoga and Pilates classes for a good couple of years and really find they help my mental health. I started out online classes then ventured out when I felt more confident 💐

Well done OP, you're making all the right moves in the right direction. Good for you.
