Anyone else really struggling with this ? I don't know what to do. I tried to stop them but I can't

What meds are you on? I put on a fair bit of weight on escitalopram but it was worth it not to feel awful. It’s stopped working for me recently and I’ve lost loads of weight as I’m too anxious to eat, honestly the weight is preferable!

not sure is should say incase it's a little outing. It's not a depression med though

I guess you need to consider the benefits the meds are having, are they worth a bit of extra weight?

It's difficult to say, but without them I am up and down so much I can't cope

I think you should go back to your dr and explore alternatives, there’s probably something else that could give you the benefits without the weight gain. It’s horrible not to feel like yourself, mentally or physically. Are you getting any counselling to help you? Don’t give up, you’ll get there, it’s really hard, I know.

I'm going to go back and try, it's just exhausting. I've been trying to get the meds right for a while. I asked if I could have talk therapy, but they said there isn't the funding for me

It’s so difficult, I’m going through changes with meds too, I can’t wait to get it sorted and like you I feel hopeless sometimes…but you will get there.
I’m self funding counselling and it has helped but getting the medication is really the big thing for me.

I'm on different medications and they're all known to cause weight changes as a side effect. My medication is what has caused my weight gain (Sertraline, Propranolol, Pregablin, Co-codamol, etc). I'm in the obese category because of medication and I've never been obese before them. I've tried different AD, pain and anti anxiety medications too (all for diagnosed illnesses).

Fluoxetine seemed like it could help with losing weight too but it didn't help with the mental health side of things so had to go back to my usual one.

Sadly I've tried coming off them but the mental illness, much like physical illness, couldn't be managed without these medication and as much as the weight gain makes me really sad, I can't cope at all when my mental health is bad.

I've had to go on Mounjaro and this is the only thing that's has helped me start losing weight a little at a time when nothing else worked.

Doing all these with the guidance of my GP by the way.

Yeah I can see how Prozac could do that

I’m on Prozac now, which I’ve lost weight on but mostly because it’s not stopped my anxiety yet so I’m not loving it yet!

I take an antipsychotic & they cause a lot of weight gain (5stone on one). There are some that don’t put weight on though.

I used to be on sertraline and gained a lot of weight. Now on fluoxetine and Propanolol (after losing about 30 of the 50 lbs I need to lose thanks to mounjaro šŸ™„). No idea how this will go but I’m a wreck without any meds.
