Does this sound like anxiety?

Hi all. I am wondering if this sounds like anxiety or some other kind of mental health issue. My 13 year old daughter OBSESSIVELY checks if her dog is OK. If he leaves the room that she is in she will immediately follow into that room to check. She will ask repeatedly 'Is the dog OK?' the second he is out of her sight. It is alot, for example in the last 5 minutes she has asked four times. This must be some sort of anxiety right? She cannot rest until she knows he is safe and the moment she can't see him she checks again.

He is a 2 year old lab we have had since he was a puppy. He has never been sick or injured. He has got out of the garden twice but didn't leave our street and was back within a minute or two. I try and reassure her that he is fine but it is getting worse.

Thanks

It sounds like an anxiety/OCD type behaviour. I would keep an eye and see if it manifests in other ways.

It sounds like your daughter may be experiencing anxiety, possibly related to obsessive-compulsive behaviors. Her constant need to check on the dog and the inability to rest until she confirms he's okay could point toward an anxiety disorder like OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). This type of behavior, especially when it's persistent and affects her ability to relax, is often a sign that something more than typical concern is at play.
I’d recommend speaking to a mental health professional who can evaluate her and provide support. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is often helpful for managing these types of anxious thoughts and compulsions. You're already doing the right thing by reassuring her, but professional guidance could be key to helping her manage this in a healthier way.
