Have you had first hand experience of people with psychosis/delusional disorder?

I got a bit sucked into the whole stalking/ Baby Reindeer thing with Fiona H's interview and was discussing it with DH who rather dismissed it as 'extremely rare'.
However while thankfully I've never had to deal with a stalker, I HAVE experienced two instances in my life where I've had to deal with an individual displaying similar delusional behaviour.

The first was when I moved to a new city/new job. At the time I didn't realise the previous job holder had been 'let go' for gross misconduct. Within weeks of me starting I began to get threatening voicemails left overnight on my work voicemail (this was the 90s) which included some very personal references to stuff they must have gleaned from trade press reports about my appointment. Thankfully the company quickly acted and it stopped, but of course I was anxious, not least because I was alone in a new city.

Second time was when I was away on a work trip with a colleague who, the first night over dinner told me this story about how he'd been drugged and kidnapped by MI5 because he knew 'too much' about a plot to kill a member of the royal family. At first I thought he was winding me up, but he got really angry when I tried to laugh it off. For weeks afterwards he kept telling me there would be 'consequences' if I ever told anyone.

Is it just me, or have you had similar experiences?

I've had two stalkers in my life, both men. It was fucking terrifying, and one of them was long before we got proper stalking laws in the UK.

It's not rare.
