11 year old sister's mental health

Hi,
I've been needing some advice for a while. My 11 year old sister is my youngest sister (huge age gap). I don't live with her.

Since I can remember, she's always been quiet and shy.
As she's grown up, she's become more and more withdrawn. It's got to the point now where she is unable to answer basic questions to anyone apart from my dad or her mum. It's as if she panics, or shuts down when you ask her something. She just looks away or says 'i dunno'
She wants to sit away from people most of the time and has become self conscious. I know that being self conscious can be normal, but this seems different.
She struggles at school and is 'behind' other children for her age, according to the school.
Not really sure if this is enough info, but I don't know where to start. Grateful for any advice/help.

Has she turned to you for help? I am just wondering where your parent/s fit in here?

Because, at 11 years old, she is still very much her parents responsibility and, although i get that you love her and are concerned, you really should not be burdening yourself here - go and live your life!

If she has turned to you for help, your parents need to know.

Sounds like she needs therapy/ counselling now, before it impacts her even more as she grows up. Have your parents spoken to the GP? Can they go private?
