Long story short so you don’t fall asleep reading 😅
pnd in 2017 - tried citalopran, stayed on it for 18 months but didn’t feel like it did much. Tried sertraline in 2019, worked, stayed on it then tapered off, relapsed, stayed on it 2 1/2 years, tapered off, relapsed, restarted it last July, felt better around December. Been 100% fine until this week (anniversary of my last relapse) and I’m now waking up filled with dread, anxious the sertraline has stopped working and I’ll be back to square one. Is this a blip???? Or do I need to think about seeing gp?? 150 is a big dose as it is….

Hey there,
do get in touch with your doctors to discuss your medication, the waking up with dread and anxiety is definitely a sign that something is not working for you anymore.

If you have the time and interest, please take a look at Georgia Ede on YouTube, I found her really helpful in sorting out my own stuff. She is an American psychiatrist and she details exactly how food effects the brain, and so how diet can impact mental health.
For me, it was a light bulb moment to realize that our bodies make the neurotransmitters we need from the food we eat: our understanding of depression is that it is an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain, and that drugs and help alter that balance. But if drugs can alter the balance, diet can fix it. I am probably not explaining this too well, but if it peeks your interest take a look at Georgia Ede and Chris Palmer.
But, always listen to your doctors.

Best of luck.

Thank you for this! Have you notice a big change after changing your diet? I’ll definitely have a look

Really? Any major side effect? Was it for anxiety?
