Is it normal to cry so much?

Looking for perspective from other parents. DD1 is 12 and DD2 is 10. I had post natal depression which saw me crying every day but recently I’ve found myself crying with exasperation at my 12 year olds attitude. I’m pretty tired, my hubby works away in the week and I feel like she just makes life so awkward and difficult. So it’s a tricky phase of parenting in short. But is it normal to be in tears twice a week (roughly) and feel spirally? I don’t want to go back on anti depressants but I also worry about the impact on my kids seeing me crying. Wondered how common this is. I find exercise helps with low mood but nothing helps when I’m like this. I’m also 48 so probably peri menopausal and investigating hrt.

I don't have kids (although I work with them ) but for me, the signs of peri menopause were black moods and rage and crying at pretty much everything. HRT has smoothed most of it over which is good. Keep investigating.

Same here. I had pnd. When son was 11 I was crying incessantly and not able to cope with anything.

After a few hrt patches failed I went on HRT Gel and it has made the world of difference.
