Citalopram tiredness

I'm so tired on this, been about a month now and don't know if I can carry on with it. I feel 10 mins from falling sleep all the time and hard to get going. Anyone else had it? I have a review later.

Are you getting good sleep? I'm on citalopram over a month now and I've had strong tiredness each time I've slightly increased my dose but it only lasts for a few days. However I don't sleep good and I'm generally always a tired person so this may be why I'm noticing it less.

I’ve been there, and it’s really tough. What helped me was establishing a strict sleep routine: going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends. I also started limiting my screen time an hour before bed and made my bedroom a tech-free zone. During the day, short naps of 20 minutes and taking regular breaks to move around helped me stay alert. It’s also worth discussing this with your doctor during your review; they might have additional insights or suggestions. Hang in there; it does get better with the right adjustments and support.

I found this to start with but it did improve. When do you take your tablet? I started out taking it at bedtime so I was less tired during the day. Once the initial side effects wore off, I swapped to taking it earlier in the day.

Oh yes I think it may be the timing. I was taking it in the morning then swapped go night then forgot and went back to morning. Also ran out with the IT shortage. It's funny as I always said when I took setraline that I got better when I got consistent. Not following my own advice of what works here. It's hard to have routine as dealing with a backlog. Feel too guilty to sleep in day. I have a meds review in 5 mins. Was pondering upping the dose but I don't know.

Its always tough for the first few weeks. Maybe change the time you take your tablet as suggested and then review it again in a couple of months if it doesn't improve.

If you're taking it consistently and not seeing an improvement, it's definitely worth reviewing. I was told (quite rudely!) by the postnatal mental health team that 10mg wouldn't do anything and I needed to be on at least 20mg to start seeing a difference.

I suspect that is the case. I missed my call today as phone was on silent but have a review on Monday. I wonder if I should just increase as I would rather do it over the weekend.

Did 20mg help?

I’ve been on 40mg of citaloptam for the last 7years or so, I take it just before bed and it really helps me sleep.

20mg has really helped and I really noticed the increased dose. Good luck!
