I read about this in Health magazine so logged on to see what it is? It's interesting, sort of CBT online. Plus it's free and they don't give out your info. You need a password and log in name (made up one).

I just finished the first module but you can go back to it.

hi all
u do tend to find a lot of charities put more into mental health mainly to pick up back log from NHS and they tend to work closely with mental health teams in order to try and provide some sort of support, counselng, alternative therapies, exposure programmes etc..also it is possible to find counsellers trained in cbt techniques

i still havent heard anything about my referral........feels pointless waiting sometimes.......

juniperdewdrop · 03/01/2005 16:45

why not ask mrflounce if he can help? JudgeFlounce just said he takes on some online work.

Titania - think you will have to phone/write to doctors if you can't face up to phoning and chase as to what's going on with the referral/how long the waiting list is.

Mishi - thought T and others might find it useful if you put a bit more info on as to how to get decent mental health help thru charities as mentioned in your post. would also be interested in your views as to whether these types of internet self-help resources are of any use or should be avoided. guess I thought that if BMJ study seemed to think there was some merit in it, that was a good enough recommendation to be going on with, but maybe I was wrong....

Thanx for the link juni, have been feeling low again , but its outisde forces playing their part , for whcih I have been reluctant to post about. I think iys jus shown me I have more work to do. Like others I had been recommended CBT by hospitals mental health unit but the Enfield council doesnt have any practioners so NO WAITING LIST. Ive now spent a fortune on hypnotherapy , which has helped to make me more aware of my behaviour, but Im not sure if its been powerful enough to sustain me withought weekly sessions as Ive been off the ads,(chose to come off withought docs knoweldge), since August 04.

Im up to the feeling section : the thinker. Its just reminding me of what to be mnindful of again.

sorry to hear that melsy hun. Isn't it dreadful that there's no CBT available yet it's highly recommended? Very sad state of affairs. Have you tried the moodGYM then melsy? I haven't been back on yet but will do in the near future.
Has anything else been recommended for you? Have you read any books on CBT? I know self help books aren't always that but maybe someone can recommend one? I bought one for a friend and it was v good, got it from amazon but can't remember the name? Maybe it's on my history though if you're interested?
