Me and DH have been married for 20yrs. He has always been a bit up and down with his moods, is pessimistic and gloomy by nature.
He didn't have a particularly happy or stable childhood and I think he has some trauma that he needs to work through.
He is really reluctant to do this. Doesn't want to talk about it and I think is scared of how it will make him feel.
He has told me today that he feels sad and empty. I really, really want him to talk to someone. I'm worried that he is on a bit of a downward spiral.
Could anyone advise where to start? Would anti depressants help? What kind of counselling is beneficial for childhood trauma?
Any advice would be so gratefully received.
Thanks

GP. They can refer and decide if medication is helpful. But, your DH needs to drive this. Tell him you're worried about him and could he talk to his GP. He doesn't have to have therapy today consists of spilling his emotions, GP might feel something else could help.

I would second the GP. Medication might be an option if your DH would be amenable.
