Sertraline 50mg to 100mg

Hi,
Just wanted to know if anyone is having increased anxiety as a side effect of Sertraline?
I was on 50mg for 4 weeks and it didn't seem to help much so my GP put me up to 100mg. Although I feel slightly calmer throughout the day I'm still having increased anxiety about going anywhere out of my comfort zone.
If anyone has any advice or success stories, I would love to hear them as I'm struggling. Thanks in advance.

Medication takes time to work, months not weeks. Give the new dose 12 weeks, if it's not working then ask for a different medication.

Thank you. Do you take Sertraline? If so how long did it take you to feel the full benefits?

I take it. Started on 50, went up to 100, now back down at 50 (over a period of years). It’s given me my life back for sure, but in my experience at any rate, it takes time to kick in. Quite a few weeks I would say, at least 6 - 8 plus (everyone is different). Worth it though.

Ok great, thanks for your reply. It helps to know it works (eventually!) I'm finding the increased anxiety the worst, even taking my kids to school causes me to panic at the moment. Do you think this is a side effect?

It definitely takes time. My ds, 18, started it in January. He's now on 150mg and it's been life changing - the longer he's been on it, the better.

I'm reading some interesting research saying that AD rewire the brain to give you a slightly more positive and calm outlook. This way of thinking and feeling gradually becomes the new normal as you adjust and start to experience life in a more positive way. So it makes perfect sense that the changes are gradual.

Hey there, I really hope that increasing the dose works for you. But bear in mind that anti-depressants do not work for some people, and the percentage is significant.
If you have the time take a look at Georgia Ede on YouTube, she is an American psychiatrist who treats mental health issues with dietary interventions.
Best of luck.

Thank you for your replies. I'm hoping to feel better soon and not this nervous wreck I've become.
