Hi guys,

I'm just curious but did anyone else after they have a baby develop agoraphobia? How did you overcome it? The thought of leaving the house incase something happens to me or my babies is so overwhelming. I can leave the house but it takes a lot of mental preparation and if I don't have to I won't. And I will happily leave the house with someone else. I want to be able to explore the world again without that overbearing anxiety :(

are you on your own?

How many months post partum are you? I wasn't myself for the first 6 months, had severe anxiety going out with my son and felt extremely stressed. After 6 months I slowly started to feel more "normal".

Please speak to somebody though weather it's a friend/ family member or GP.

I'm almost 4 months postpartum. I've had a very stressful time recently and I've been back to work from 3 months pp because of finances. Little one doesn't sleep through yet so im not sleeping and going to work in a childcare role. When im working and distracted im good, I get help with lifts to and from work, but the thought of going to work with 2 kids in the buggy on the bus (toddler with suspected ASD and almost 4 month old) scares the life out of me. Im going to seek support from the GP on Tuesday. It comes and goes in waves and im guessing all the stress has started it off again.

I'm not I have a husband, but he doesn't pull his weight sometimes and it's hard. Especially having my little one with her struggles with traits of ASD and little legs almost 4 months, then working 32 hours.

It may well be post natal depression so definitely get it checked out.

I don't have children but I do have agoraphobia. I used the DARE response book to basically give myself exposure therapy. It worked.

I went out for a walk with my husband and the kids, I've just bought a double buggy and it has made me feel so much at ease. My little one with ASD is secure and can't run away and my 4 month old in the back where I can see him through a peak hole. We were out for the walk and although I felt very anxious about it I managed to walk to the shop alone with the kids, I was so proud. I'm going to attempt to take them to town on Sunday to meet a friend for breakfast. Baby steps ❤️

I live with agoraphobia, no baby though.

I had exposure therapy which really helped. I started just sitting on by back door step. I still can't go out without planning, anything at short notice leaves me soaked in sweat and struggling to stay calm.
