I have appointment at cmht every six months. I am pretty stable but go to the appointments.

Muddle200 · 24/05/2024 17:38

But do you have to go

I should think that they are not overly concerned about you if the appointments are only every six months so it would be up to you if you wanted to attend.
if there were serious concerns that you were a danger to yourself or others then I assume you would be more regularly monitored and it might not be up to you whether you attend.

LIZS · 24/05/2024 18:16

If you miss one will they discharge you, such that you would need a new referral to access support?

Muddle200 · 24/05/2024 19:09

I am confused

FoFanta · 24/05/2024 19:11

If you don't need the appointment and don't attend, you will be discharged back to your GP. If you need Community Mental Health services again, you will be re-referred and go back on the end of the waiting list

But do you have to go

I don't know but it's not too much afford to go and say I am doing fine.

LIZS · 24/05/2024 19:20

Sorry your posts are disjointed. It sounds as if you had an issue at work, got your gp involved on advice of work (Occupational Health perhaps?) and now have an appointment. If so , is it worth attending if only to process this and be reassured? Is work an issue?

Muddle200 · 25/05/2024 11:13

No you get sectioned

Muddle200 · 25/05/2024 11:13

No you get sectioned

Only if you are very mentally ill. There is a severe shortage of beds so they don’t section people unless it is unavoidable.

LIZS · 25/05/2024 11:26

You won't get sectioned if appointments are six monthly and you are engaging unless you have a crisis. Non attendance may be seen as an indication of escalating issues or non engagement and lead to discharge.

Doctors with no results

Here you have to go so I go but 7
Unable to get help as GP sent me too soon and Occ would not believe me
I asked docs to send them reports but they refused

OP posts:
Muddle200 · 25/05/2024 11:37

How can you engage if you sent too soon Surely you have to be ready for it

OP posts:
LIZS · 25/05/2024 12:11

What do you mean by "too soon"? If an incident occurred surely that was too late to prevent it and you may benefit from support and coping strategies to avoid recurrence.

Muddle200 · 26/05/2024 08:06

No MH said Gp sent me too soon
And they cannot help I am angry

OP posts:
LIZS · 26/05/2024 08:30

Too soon , because you are still angry? Is counselling an option to get you to a place where you might be more receptive to treatment?

Muddle200 · 26/05/2024 10:45

OP posts:
Serencwtch · 28/05/2024 21:05

These are things you can discuss at the appointment. No one can give you advice as we don't know your situation.
There is strict criteria for sectioning someone but it's impossible to offer advice without knowing the details - the appointment is your chance to discuss your needs.
The most likely scenario from not engaging with a service is that you will be discharged back to your GP & you may have difficulty getting referred back in the future.
If they have sufficient concern for your welfare they may well ask social services or the police to carry out a welfare check which is likely more traumatic than 6 monthly appointment.

FriendofDorothy · 31/05/2024 19:24

If they are prescribing by you meds they may not continue to do so if you don't go for a regular review.
