Mental health, fibro, doctor sign off not long enough

I just need someone to vent really. Feel a bit let down by the doctor today.

So have been seeing the same doctor since beginning of April, did a E consult for something last week and appointment was made today for an appointment with a different doctor to normal. I did have one with my normal
Doctor booked for this wednedah which I kept.
Anyways both times he has signed me off work for the full half term. And added all the details into my consultation notes (luckily I have our him down on my LCWRA form),

Today this new doctor there seemed wishybwashy, my sick note she has only done for 4 weeks but as she has overlapped it a week with this current sick note I'm on it'll only be 3 weeks, and one of those will be half term anyways. So I just feel a bit let down. She didn't put half the stuff I said abohr my mental health; my self harming etc on my consultation notes for today.
My anxiety is now even higher whilst waiting for LCWRA and pip, doctor was sent w form to fill in for LCWRA. And today's appointment I feel was just a waste. Would I be a dick If I was to go to my original appointment Wednesday and ask him
To re write the sick note and for longer? And ask him to add to the consultation notes

Sick notes can’t be forward dated, only dated on the day or backdated. Is that what you mean by overlap?

Just let the current one run and get another when this one runs out?

So my other one runs out on the 26th May. She dates the new sick note from today xx

She can’t sign a sick note today that starts in the future. Only starting today or in the past.

If there’s something else that you need now then by all means go to your appointment on Wednesday. But if it’s just that you want a longer sick note it might be fairer just to wait and ask for one when this one runs out if you still need a sick note then.

Why isn’t it long enough? Is there a particular reason it needs to be 4 weeks and not 3? I’d just stick with the 3 then if you feel you need it extended ask your doctor to do that

DoreenonTill8 · 20/05/2024 19:46

Are you a teacher who'd be off half term anyway?

Ineedhelpplease1234 · 20/05/2024 19:46

It's just I feel the sick note is kinda a waste of 2 weeks on it. Because this week I am already signed off as she dated it from
Today and my other ends up of this week, next week is the half term. The other day was signing me off the full half term each time. I just physically don't think I can go back to work it until
I know I get LCWRA and pip I can't
Quite

Four weeks is a long time to be on sick leave. I've occasionally seen two months on a fit note but usually after surgery. She's done nothing wrong. It may be your other GP has been trying to helpful but tbh if I was your employer I'd be more comfortable with four weekly for mental health as it gives an assurance the gp is keeping in close touch with you.

And half term is paid time too so that's not a problem it's included. It should be.

Groovee · 20/05/2024 21:31

The longest I got last year was 5 weeks and I had to be signed off over holidays to ensure it was down as one absence not as two. But you should go about the time your sick line is due up. They can backdate but not forward date.

Thanks everyone. He has just signed me off for 2 months.
