Is anyone currently or has been signed off work with stress?

I'm struggling at the moment. I go to bed feeling sick with anxiety, wake up sick with anxiety.
My manager is a micro managing narcissist. The service team have just put a team grievance in against him however I suspect little will come of it.
At home DH & DS have health issues.
I am struggling.
I'm worried being off will make me worse worrying about work.
I'm also in management the team will be massively impacted if I'm off.

The work environment sounds horrendous. Why do you think nothing will come of an entire team filing a grievance?

In an ideal world, you would be able to raise that you are struggling with line management and HR and the company would support some time out but I think you need to throw in the towel and ask your doctor to sign you off for a bit.

The team struggling in your absence does not concern you.

I’ve been signed off once and eventually left the business on a compromise agreement as the managers behaviour was evidently the reason why and I had teams of evidence of shitty behaviour.

I feel guilty talking about work at home. It's a vicious cycle.
I am not one for going off sick. I've had x2 days off in the past 4 years.

You’ve got classic burnout. Stop apologising for everything superwoman and put your mental health first for a change before your body finds a way to give you a break.

I would get yourself signed off and use the time to look for another job. Life really is too short to be so unhappy.

I had a month off after a chance conversation with a caring friend . She has lots of teacher friends and said most people would have taken time off sick in my shoes. GP said if I sign you off for 2 weeks most people get anxious after 1 week about going back, so have 4 weeks. Best thing ever did. I slept and slept, ate, then started to potter, saw some friends, did some light exercise, got an ADHD diagnosis privately. I'd done 6 years at the same org then been mistreated by being given a promotion but being asked to do 2 peoples jobs. No one cared long term about the month off.

I am doing the job of 2 people.
When I applied there was another TL in post so responsibility shared. Colleague left.
My staff have sung praises saying what a wonderful job I've done. Manager has said need to change narrative as there has only ever been one TL.

This is a false economy going on everywhere at the moment. Companies need to cut costs and think it’s acceptable to not replace people and expect the same from those left.
In most cases, everyone including line management, are stressed and forget their values and manners and productivity drops, making things worse and worse.

My last employer got rid of so many people and it was all handled by the HQ in the US who have zero knowledge of UK employment culture and laws. The litigation costs alone cost them a THIRD of their profit for last year and their reputation in the industry is trashed for many years to come. The UK office has a glassdoor rating of 2 stars now.
