6 years I've been stopped
But I've a ,lot of weight to loose
I stopped the being sick ,but couldn't stop the bingeing
Every day is a failure to diet
And the urge to vomit is strong
Trying to calorie count ,I frequently don't have enough calories left for an evening meal .
Oh ,to be normal

Well done on stopping but it might be a good idea to get to the root as to why you binge in the first place. I had bulimia for years and it was caused by the pressure of feeling I had to be perfect, slim and nice and the need to feel in control. Understanding the reasons I binged helped me hugely control it all and regulate myself. Hugs to you it's very difficult

Bulimia started at 14 after a suicide attempt..lasted 30 years so most of my adult life .
I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD last year ,so I'm assuming that's the cause of it ..

Hi @Springcat I’m in a similar situation although I only ever binged never vomited.
It is an amazing achievement to have stopped the vomiting for so long so you should give yourself huge credit for that.
From what I have learnt from my psychiatrist, who specialises in treating eating disorders, the key is to get the bingeing under control first by sticking to 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. This is because we are physiologically less likely to binge if we are not hungry/starving ourselves.
Obviously, this isn’t easy because it is difficult to eat when you are not hungry but it is important to do that so that your hunger signals can reset themselves.
Also don’t lose your nerve if your weight goes up slightly at first.
My issue is that I try to make up for a ‘bad’ day by restricting myself the next day but that just perpetuates the binge cycle.
HTH a little.

Thankyou boxing whelp
That's good advice
I'm at the point where I feel angry and bad about myself after every time I eat.
I frequently skip dinner because I've run out of calories by 3 pm .
I'm literally making a mess of my life ,and I'm far to old to be having these problems.i should be setting an example to my adult children and instead I'm hugely failing

Can you have 3 small meals and 2 snacks? That won’t add up to more than 1,200 calories a day. Allow yourself a treat for one or both of the snacks - crisps or a small bar of chocolate. Something you would otherwise binge on.
this will help satisfy the cravings to binge as you’re still allowed those foods

I can't just stop at one packet ,I have to eat every packet in the dam house .
I really wish to god I could do that .eat 3 meals and 2 snacks ...if I could actually do that ..oh my god It would feel like Christmas every day if could eat normally .and I don't understand why everyone else seems to be able to eat normally and I need to cram in 6 packets of crisps as fast as possible, leaving me no calories for an evening meal .

The reason you have to cram in 6 bags of crisps is because you have been starving yourself so you can’t stop once you start as your body needs food.
My psychiatrist said it isn’t a question of willpower it is a question of biology.
If you are calorie counting then you need to start off with 1600-1800 calories per day. That might seem a lot but it is a lot less than you will be eating if you are bingeing every day. Trying to limit yourself to 1200 calories a day is bound to fail as your body will be crying out for food. The important thing to start off is to get into the structure of 3 meals and 2-3 snacks first so you can reduce or eliminate the urge to binge.

Yes I think you might be right.
I think my signals are all mixed up as well
I wake up with the urge to binge..and I don't allow myself to eat untill lunchtime..maybe that wake up binge feeling is a need for breakfast, not a meal I have ever eaten

Good luck @Springcat I know how horrendous it feels to be bingeing all the time.
FWIW I did lose 10kg following that process but I put it back on when I abandoned it due to other life stresses.
