Hi, I've posted a few times over the last week or so ..

So my psychiatrist has offered me ECT, or a change to clomipramine.

I'm on 60mg of fluxoetine just now so would have to taper off that then build up clomipramine in my system.

Does anyone have experience of having ect or weaning off fluxoetine or starting clomipramine?

I'm becoming increasingly desperate now and I don't know what to do. I don't want to stay in hospital for 2 weeks as I feel that me being away from home will make me worse.

Can anyone advise please? 😔

I’d say to go with whatever your psychiatrist is recommending @hk1993x
You have given it a lot of thought already but your psychiatrist is the one with the experience so it is understandably hard for you to make the decisions yourself.
FWIW I didn’t have any withdrawal symptoms when coming off fluoxetine (but had terrible ones coming off citalopram) but everyone is different. The advantage of being in hospital is that they can monitor you and adjust the meds accordingly.

Just another thought @hk1993x , do you have a good relationship with your gp or whoever has been involved in the different medications you’ve been on so far? Just thought it might be worth getting a second opinion if you’re unsure? Is the psychiatrist part of the home treatment team or someone you’ve been seeing regularly?

if you’re that anxious about being in hospital away from your family maybe it’s worth giving the clomipramine a shot first? xx

But I feel like my psychiatrist who I've met 3 times alongside the psychologist who I've met twice have both differencing opinions.

My depression is caused by anxiety, I know that 100%. I wake up every morning with whole body tremors and vicious intrusive thoughts and panic but I get out of bed.

The psychologist thinks it's severe anxiety about anxiety which there is no psychological term (maybe ocd which i have a diagnosis for)
And the psychiatrist thinks it's severe depression, but I'm getting out bed, I'm going for showers, I'm doing the school runs, housework etc.. but it's on autopilot. So I'm confused. I feel like I have just been flung all these diagnoses and I don't know where I stand. I just want a clear mind, where I can rationalise my thoughts etc.

No wonder you are confused then @hk1993x
The suggestion from @Whycantgiraffesdance to get a 2nd opinion might help you decide.

I got a copy of my medical records and turns out I've already had clomipramine back in 2021 and then I had a OD episode during that and was put back on fluoxetine! It even says I've had quetipine and promozine!?

I genuinely can't even remember taking these meds in my life bit it's there in black and white. Why would the Dr not have seen this already???

I have a good relationship with my GP's but I don't think they can help me now.

I guess I'm going to the psych ward for 2 weeks to have ECT done then 🥹🥹
