Paroxetine withdrawal

I'm going to stop taking Paroxetine (Seroxat) after starting in 2019 for acute anxiety. I've heard it might not be pleasant 😬. If anyone has any tips that might help I'd be very grateful 🌺

Take it very slowly is my advice. You might find you get very strange, really vivid dreams as you start to taper down, I certainly did. On the plus side, I had none of the horrible brain zaps that you can get when coming off other SSRIs.

I found the forum Surviving Antidepressants really helpful. I'm tapering off of citalopram by making it into a liquid and tapering 10% a month to minimise withdrawal symptoms. Going well so far. 10% a month is the fastest I would taper with any SSRI.

Thanks both, 10% a month sounds like a good plan. I shall investigate how to make a liquid so I can do this properly 🙏🏼

I've made it down to 5mg/day from 20mg. Does anyone know if you get Paroxetine in liquid form or do I need to continue cutting the tablets up? 🙏🏼

There are liquid forms but they are special order only so will be very expensive. Keep going with the reduction. Took me nearly a year to get off citalopram but worth it.

From 5mg you should be able to just stop. Wait until you have no symptoms at the 5mg before you drop it altogether. You might get some mild withdrawal like headaches for a few days.

Thanks for your advice and support. I have now been off it completely for two weeks. Lots of side effects going between 10mg and 0mg. Tension headaches and random anxiety being the worst but also had quite a few gastro symptoms (mostly bloating). So glad I saw it through, feels like I’m living life in colour again now rather than black and white. Knowing what to expect from all the previous posts on different threads was a massive support to see it through so thank you ❤️
