Hello, I have been on 50mg of sertraline for 9 weeks and my GP wants me to increase to 100mg. I had some horrible side effects when I 1st started the medication. Has anyone got experience of increasing the dose and how you felt? Did you have side effects?
Thanks in advance!

Hey op, my increase to 100 was nowhere near as awful as first starting, everyone’s different but I’m sure you’ll be ok. Good luck x

Hello, just to say I was exactly where you are one month ago raising my dosage from 50mg to 100mg. I am happy to report that the side effects were so much easier than the initial ones were when starting Sertraline.
My only notable side effect when raising dosage was nausea for around four days, I hope this puts your mind at ease and you feel the benefits quickly.
Good Luck.

@DreamingOfaLife @TTCX2 thank you for your reply. I'm praying my side effects are not as bad as starting on the meds. Did you go straight to 100mg from 50mg or did you do 75mg for a bit? How are you feeling now? Xx

I came of it and had talking therapy

I’ve been on Sertraline for years. Started on 50mg, then to 100, then 150 and now I’m on 200mg. Apparently that’s the max dose.

Worst for me was starting the medication. I felt sick, floaty and had terrible insomnia. I do feel so much “better” on the higher dose. Good luck!

I went straight to 100 from 50, found it much better than initial start up. I am on 125 now and increased in January. I’m not sure how I’m feeling yet, still up and down but I had a baby 4 months ago so there’s alot of other factors at play for me too! Hope 100 is the doseage you need to feel better 🤍

Hello again Chris G, I went straight from 50 to 100 rather than going to 75 first. Feelings wise having been on the higher dose for four weeks now I do feel better for it. It's got easier to cope and I have more emotion in a positive way, able to laugh and enjoy things more. I hope it works well for you also.

Thank you for your replies. I decided to take 75mg for a couple of days then 100mg. Took my 1st 75mg today. I'm praying this makes a difference, I'm struggling with life and currently off work. Just want to feel able to function again.

How are you getting on Op.?

Chrisg79 · 10/03/2024 17:57

Took my 1st 100mg this morning and felt very nauseous and anxious all day. Hoping it settles down quickly. I'm still struggling to get to sleep at night.

Hopefully the nausea and anxiety side effects will settle during the next few days , with the sleep problem would your gp be agreeable to giving you a short course of sleeping medication?
My gp prescribed me Zopiclone and that really helps if I have had a run of bad nights sleep, as I'm sure you're more than aware poor sleep makes anxiety worse and becomes a viscious cycle.
Hope you start to feel better very soon.

Chrisg79 · 19/03/2024 02:01

First week of 100mg done and my side effects are settling and I'm starting to feel a little more human and myself in the evenings. I take my meds in the morning as it is still affecting me getting to sleep. I feel constantly time through the day.

Hey!

I’ve been on Zoloft (sertraline) for quite a while now, and I remember how tough the first few weeks were when I started. I also increased my dose from 50mg to 100mg, and honestly, I was nervous about the side effects too. For me, the adjustment period wasn’t as bad as when I first started—some mild headaches and a bit of nausea, but nothing too overwhelming. After a couple of weeks, things settled, and I started feeling so much better.I get my Zoloft from this pharmacy - delivery-service24.com/buy-zoloft-uk.html, and I’ve always had a good experience with fast delivery and great quality.

Give yourself time and be kind to yourself during the transition. Try to stay hydrated, get enough rest, and remind yourself that any side effects are usually temporary. If anything feels unbearable, don’t hesitate to check in with your doctor.

Wishing you the best—hope the dose increase helps you feel even better! 💙
