So I wrote a post about a week ago regarding a pip telephone assessment… turns out I scored 0 and have been denied pip. I fee so shitty, there is blatant lies on the report that has come back and some of the questions they say I appear to of answered wasn’t even asked!! They also said I spoke fine on the telephone which is amazing considering my mum and sister spoke for me! I feel so deflated and like I’m a liar and just making this whole thing up. I’m 31 and have had depression and anxiety since being 13. I’m starting to think the evidence I sent in wasn’t enough, all I had was 17 years worth of doctors notes on my medical record, countless medication attempts and countless counselling attempts. I’m currently also on a waiting list for an adhd assessment recommended by the mental health nurse. Has anyone had a successful mandatory reconsideration? I don’t know whether to just give up at this point, feel so deflated already.

I've never forgotten the assessor who claimed that she'd seen me "walking briskly" even though it had been an ordinary phone assessment and not on Zoom.

They do lie, OP. They're known for it.

That is really weird @TheShellBeach because on the front cover of the report it’s made abundantly clear how the assessment is performed.

Plus if dave to face there’s an entire section about how the applicant has dressed, say, eye contact etc

@wontforget

It might be weird but it's not at all uncommon.

I have read multiple reports which state details the assessor couldn't possibly have known.

i’m sure

but filling in the form must have made no sense but big swathes of face to face are about demeanour and clothing and movement
and fact it is a telephone assessments with no zoom is made so clear on the form and during completion

Same!

And the lawyer, doctor and disabled person who did my tribunal just raised their eyebrows when I pointed it out to them.

And then awarded me PIP.

I sent my whole record in including anxiety and depressive order diagnosis, the fact I’m on a waiting list for an autism adhd assessment, the medication I am and have been on. I’m only not on a higher medication due to anxiety about taking a higher one due to the doctors messing it up and me almost dying due to their mistake. For them to say sertraline isn’t a decent enough medication to prove I’m ill is disgusting to be honest. They have everything in front of them and it still wasn’t good enough.

It sounds like the classic case of them not hearing what you are saying so I agree requesting the report sounds a very good next step. Then you can challenge their assumptions /reasoning. They do seem very good at deciding because you can do something, this means you can do lots of other stuff that has no bearing on the thing you can do. It’s ridiculous. Eg why being able to describe a complex health condition means that someone would have no problems navigating their way from A - B if they’re unfamiliar with the journey, I have no idea. But they seem excellent at it. I’m not sure if it’s genuine lack of insight or wilful stupidity.

Mine said I didn't sound like I had pain, and refused navigational points because I had a degree before I became unwell.
They said I must be able to prepare food because I can sometimes do a jigsaw.
They said I have no difficulty bathing (even though I can only manage it a couple of times a week) because my hyper mobility means I can reach my feet. Never mind that a bath knocks me out so much I cannot dry myself and need to lie down for an hour.
I did a MR and am awaiting my tribunal.

Charlieradioalphapapa · 20/02/2024 20:25

InMySpareTime. I hope you don’t have too long a wait for a tribunal and you get the award. Some of their conclusions are truly bizarre - you can do a jigsaw therefore you’d have zero problems chopping up veg or getting a heavy dish in and out an oven. They all require different dexterity, strength and abilities. And you can’t be in pain because you managed to get through the assessment without wincing or screeching or speaking above a pained whisper 🙄
