I was just wondering if any mums out there feel being able to get an hour or two a weeks childcare at reasonable rate by qualified staff to have some time not being a mum but being a person would help, especially single parents and those with PND etc am looking at childcare arrangements in my area and feel that costs to do this are not easy as cm's can't accommodate one hour often unless has spare vacancies don't know of any nurseries that can accommodate this without charging for whole session very pricey often £15-£20 but just wondered what other mothers felt?

mine went to a play school which was nearly 3 hours and was about £6 a session. Went twice a week.
Had to wait till he was 2 years old for that so i put his name down at about 7 months old as it was very popular. Twas at the end of my road and he loved it and i loved it.
I cant tell you how much i got done in that short time, some times i did nothing, bought a mag and had a coffee. it was my sanity some times.
Is this what you mean?
that and the ads were my saviours!

Have you got a supportive HV? If so it may be worth asking about a social services nursery they do have places for those who's Mums are not well and the price (if anything) is usually good

thanx for replies I thankfully am over my pnd but just wondered if people thought that would help am currently looking into ways mums can be helped through this and found that nurseries are too pricey and cm's like myself have limited number of places so to take a child for an hour a week may end up filling a whole space which most can't afford to do. Our area can help parents but only for 1-3 months for 1-6 hours which often is not long enough and is very high demand am looking at ways to bridge the gap especially for lone parents etc who can't afford weekly fees
