Following a meeting with a Psychiatrist (first time) they said CBT practitioner probably won't continue with my sessions due to my severe depression and intensity of suicidal ideation and several recent near attempts. intensified following relationship break up. Total mess and staying with parents in a city I haven't lived in for 20 years, friends have moved away, lucky to have family support. Quite relieved to be offered more support from the Recovery team, does anyone have experience/know more about this and have any idea what they can offer? Thanks for reading x

I’ve never heard of it, but it sounds very helpful. I’m sure someone with experience of this will be along, but I just wanted to wish you all the very best in your Recovery. Sounds like you’ve had/ are having a rough time. Glad you have family support. It’s a long road, but you will get there x

They will probably ask you what help you'd like.

When I had them, I was in such a wretched state that I didn't know. It's all very well being service user led, but sometimes the service user just can't lead. Nobody seemed to understand how I felt. I was totally incapable of making the simplest decision.

I just sat and talked with them. I think they came about 6 times. It made me feel a bit better for the moment, but apart from that didn't make any difference.

I'm sorry this sounds so negative, but it is my experience.

Perhaps we could put our collective heads together on this thread, to help you work out what you think would be of use?

They should help signpost you to the right support for your needs. They can advise on getting back to work and things like that. I think the service varies from area to area in terms of how useful they are! I’d suggest you write down what you feel would be most useful to you. Get better soon x

Thank you for your thoughtful reply that's helpful to know that they may visit. I do feel like I don't know what to suggest when they ask me what help I think I need - bot sure where exactly to start. Talking things over helps in the moment, yep. X
