Pls help me get back to me. I feel so low, ready to leave, need a change and sometimes feel like ending it all.
I hate what my life has become and don’t know what to do next

Sorry you are feeling like this. Is there one thing that you really want to change. It won’t always be like this

BetsyBobbins · 22/12/2023 01:14

Sorry you're feeling like this. If there's no one you can call or talk in person please call Samaritans on 116123 or text shout to 85258. Sending you strength x

mhbirv · 22/12/2023 01:58

I'm so sorry you are feeling like this. Nights can be so hard when you are alone. Is there someone you could reach out and talk to? If not then agree with pp that you could call Samaritans.

Sholkedabemus · 22/12/2023 02:04

I felt like this earlier this year. I just wanted to die. I’ve had help from my GP and I’m currently having CBT. The CBT is amazing, it’s changing everything. Get help @Blossom4538 . As others have said, Samaritans tonight, then reach out to whatever you can. 💐

thinkingoutloud23 · 22/12/2023 02:07

Please don’t leave. You hate where you are now BUT every day you stay gives the opportunity for the change you so desperately seek.

Please reach out to the Samaritans, alongside this your local area will have many support services whether that be your gp’s mental health practitioner, a local charity designated to assist people with their mental health whether it be due to illness, trauma, finances.

I have been you and so very close to exiting before my time. Am I fully healed? no Do I have to fight some days extra fiercely? 100%. But I promise change comes and your story is not over yet!

SparkleTea · 22/12/2023 02:10

I'm really sorry you're feeling like this. I have felt like this before but things can honestly get better. Call samaritans tonight - nights were always worse for me. Go to your GP and if you can try CBT. Please get help though a little bit of kindness to yourself and some work you'll be in a completely different place

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 22/12/2023 02:28

I assume you are in the UK and it's the middle of the night?

Things always look darker in the middle of the night, please keep talking in here, to get through this night. One step at a time.

When you feel strong enough maybe post some of your problems? At the very least a virtual hand to hold as you talk though it, and maybe even some suggestions that could be helpful.

thinkingoutloud23 · 22/12/2023 13:53

I hope you managed to get some sleep and things seem a little brighter for you today OP.

purpledaze24 · 22/12/2023 14:47

Sending hugs and support OP. So sorry you are suffering. I know how it feels to not want to be here and how painful it is. And how you feel no one understands. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice but just wanted you to know you’re not alone. How are you feeling today?

Squiggles23 · 22/12/2023 15:37

How are you feeling today OP? Hope you are ok. Here if you want to talk x

Blossom4538 · 22/12/2023 22:26

Thank you so much everyone.

It’s a number of things and I’ve felt awful for a long time now. I’m on Citalopram. I have some good days but overall, I just feel awful and hate my life. I feel terrible for saying that, as I appreciate there are so many people much worse off. I sometimes imagine suicide, but don’t think I’d ever go through with it. I just feel that despair.

When talking with a GP about mental health and medication and they ask if you have suicidal thoughts, what do they do if you answer “yes”?

OP posts:
Squiggles23 · 03/01/2024 08:14

Hi @Blossom4538, they will probably ask you some more questions to understand. For example, whether you’ve tried to commit suicide before or have made plans. They would hopefully give you a crisis number you can call. If you are feeling that way don’t be afraid to be honest so they can get you targeted help.

If the citalopram hasn’t helped it might be worth asking about a different medication? Sorry you are feeling this way x

Sadly the NHS is so overworked there is not much they can do, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up. I have been in hospital before and was asked this question and said yes and they just sent me home. Sadly the system is absolutely fucked. If you were really insistent they may put you on a psych ward but I’d really only consider that as your last possible resort, you do get access to lots of various mental health professionals and possible meds but they are scary, very depressing places. Long term they should absolutely refer you to the mental health team, I would insist they take you on as urgent so you can see someone hopefully in the next few days. Good luck, let us know how it goes. We’re all here if you need to talk

Blossom4538 · 05/01/2024 22:13

Thanks I feel a little better at the moment after days of crying and now Covid…but have these dips quite frequently

OP posts:
Squiggles23 · 05/01/2024 22:16

Have you ever tried sertraline? It did help me a bit, still have dips but bounce back quicker.

Be really kind to yourself and remember there’s nothing worse than January. X

wellhello24 · 05/01/2024 22:21

This too really will pass. Just wanted to say you are not alone x

I was on citalopram but had a nervous breakdown a year ago and was sectioned.

My meds were changed to aripiprazole but that made me restless and my mouth numb.

I am on a high dose of venlefaxine now ,also quetiapine and mirtazapine. It's a lot but I'm stable.

The side effects now are that I fall asleep a lot during the day ,I can't work due to this.
