Return to work not going well- (trigger warning)

I had a complete breakdown about three months ago (I have a long term history of depression and am on the autism spectrum) and made plans to end my life but managed to stop myself at the last minute. The mental health crisis team helped me get through it but I was on sick leave for about 2 months.

I returned to work and from day one pressure started from my manager to ignore the reasonable adjustments suggested by the GP (such as home working for at least a month) in my fit note.

The manager said I should instead be 'flexible' and I was asked to travel 4 hours to attend a late evening event which I decline to do. They also tried to make me state when I would be fully recovered. I was really not quite sure how to respond to that...I am doing all I can to follow the plan drafted by the mental health team, taking the right medication and waiting for counselling as the next stage.

Work also referred me to occupational health.

I have the feeling that they are just going through the motions so they can say that I will have to be let go if I can't be in the office as much as they want me to and it seems that they are shaping my workload on purpose to include events and other things that would require office attendance to demonstrate this.

I posted on the work forum and had some helpful replies but also wanted some feedback from people with mental health issues who might have experienced similar.

I have asked for an appointment at Citizen Advice.

In the meantime this has affected me quite a bit this week as the last thing I need after the trauma of a suicide attempt is to have to deal with this at work...

Request an occupational health assessment.

I agree with the PP. Occupational Health can be your friend here. I've returned to work twice after similar breakdowns and OH were really excellent both times.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. They are referring to OH. I am hoping they will help.
