I’ve always been a great passenger, I could be driven for hours, go on my phone, sleep…car, train, bus - fine! Up until about a year ago when me and my husband drove back from France, we stopped off at the hotel, had quite a few glasses of wine and set off to drive back home. We got on a motorway and I started to feel very very sick, we had to stop of several times and I was almost in a panic mode… I need to add that I’m suffering from emetophobia so the thought of throwing up made me absolutely terrified. Long story short since then it only got worse. Today, I struggled even with 10 min drive feeling very nauseous. I dread every car journey, I’m scared of longer drives and it starts to really affect my life. I can’t go without having motion sickness pills and beer in my car - For some reason nausea fades after I’ve had a beer which makes me think that’s it’s maybe psychological? Maybe it’s just anxiety and PTSD after this one bad car journey? It’s always worse on a busy motorways, standing in traffic with no access to rest stops, petrol stations and hard shoulder (it’s almost claustrophobic).
I’ve arranged a phone call with a hypnotherapist for next week to see if that May halo. Does anyone have a similar experience and can help? ☹️
