Anti-depressant advice

Dear mums
I think I have come to the realisation that I have persistent depressive disorder - I'm fine when I am at work and obliged to do things and am successful in my career, but at weekends and in holidays if the day ahead is not with plans, I can spend hours and hours just doing nothing or on my phone and I think this is abnormal.
I have been avoiding anti-depressants as I had a bad experience in my early twenties when I ballooned on some, and couldn't stop feeling hungry.
Can anyone recommend an anti-depressant which didn't give them the munchies and make them gain weight? Thank you.

Have you tried therapy first?

used both citalopram and sertraline, no issue with weight gain with either - if anything the initial side effects make me lose weight!!

I used citalopram without any issues.

Thank you very much. I haven't tried therapy. I could but the waiting list on the NHS is months and months.

Have you checked out local charities/iapt. It sounds like it’s mild depression which would respond better to therapy than ADs… but you could give it a try… bear in mind initial side effects can be a bit of a shock and I’m finding it impossible to come off them. Every time I do I suffer horrible withdrawal symptoms. Hope you find the right option for you xx

Sertraline was good for me. I have found though lifestyle changes to be almost as effective. If I exercise, eat well, sleep, try not to isolate myself I can manage the condition much better. Always relapses, but easier to get out of them and less severe

Who's told you that that's wrong? Sounds blissful!
