18 year old - NICE guidelines

My 18 yr old has anxiety ( as far as I can work out) and has had private counselling. That counsellor advised they go back to the GP, it appears, to discuss medication.
Can I just check what should be done according to NIcE guidelines, and what antidepressants are usually prescribed ? DH is on Citalopram and happy with it, so would it be appropriate to request that ?
thanks

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/conditions-and-diseases/mental-health-behavioural-and-neurodevelopmental-conditions/anxiety/products?Status=Published&ProductType=Guidance

Various sections in this regarding anxiety and depression. Some medications used to treat both.
Propranolol seems to be the standard one they try initially for the physical anxiety symptoms such as racing heartbeat, sweating etc.

Citalopram and Sertraline are the common antidepressants that can also treat anxiety - which the GP usually offers first.

You can essentially suggest anything and they will be able to inform/advise what they think would be best.

GP here, rarely prescribe for that age group. Risks usually outweigh the benefits. Obviously this isn't individual medical advice

I’d rather they weren’t put on them at this age, it was the counsellor who suggested they go back. But they want to go, and get it sorted before college starts back.
Obviously I wasn’t in on this discussion, and on a previous thread people said it’s not for the counsellor to say, but that’s what’s happening.
‘My DH is on antidepressants and he was far worse when he went on them.
I hope the GP does what is right, obviously I don’t know what has been said at counselling.
