I'm on day 4 without sertraline. I'm in the process of what I think is a major mental breakdown. I'm crying, I'm throwing up, I'm shivering, I'm angry, I've told my partner it's over, I just want to end it all. Please help me! That's going on!?!?

Do you have a CPN or MH hotline? You need to get help immediately.
I’m sorry, OP, I hope you feel better soon

Dulra · 03/08/2023 13:54

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. You need to get a prescription for your medication assp. Can you get to A&E? It sounds like you are suffering with terrible withdrawal symptoms and you need medical help. If your partner is no use is there anyone else you can contact to keep you safe

pickledandpuzzled · 03/08/2023 14:03

Why are you without sertraline?

You need to take it again. And seek help.

Don't try and ride this out alone. Get help.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/08/2023 14:04

Have you weaned it really slowly? It takes months.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/08/2023 14:04

Start taking it again and see a GP or pharmacist for a weaving plan. It is really hard. You can't do it on your own.

Happysunshineyellow · 03/08/2023 14:13

Firstly reach out to people in real life and be completely honest with them. People will help but you need real life medical support as soon as possible.

Why have you stopped taking your medication? Can you call your GP?

ManateeFair · 03/08/2023 14:13

You can't just stop Sertraline overnight. You have to reduce the dose very gradually over time. If you're on day four, the withdrawal will have kicked in, as it takes a few days before it leaves your system.

You need to call your GP surgery immediately for another prescription. Can you do that? Can you get to a pharmacy? Worst case scenario: could you call Samaritans?

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources.
You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.
