Hi thank you, I think people moving me on from ruminating (like your suggestion too) has been really helpful as I'm now with underlying mild panic rather than it being overwhelming. I need to use that for the next time because you can't change what happened.

I just read this. Try to have a self care day today. Have a bubble bath, or a nice shower, read a book, or watch your favourite film. Take a walk, look at nature, maybe paint your nails. Honestly, I know this sounds weird, but when you don't know what to do, try some of this and see if it helps. Good luck OP today is a new day. X 💐

Hi OP glad you feel somewhat better. Sometimes it's helpful to write a list of skills/ stuff to do each half hour like some if littlemiss's suggestions and that can get you though the day. As each half hour is done things can shift ever so slightly for the better.
Regarding the meeting itself I wouldn't worry too much - can you discuss it face to face with your line manager next week? X

I'm on leave so that's the worse part because it has no resolution. But I have started to think about how to use how horrible it was to constructively.
I don't think I realised how close to the surface all this stuff was and how easy it would be to become very unwell again mentally. It's been really really helpful to have people reply and move me forward a bit. I will try planning today a bit.

Hello @OneFrenchEgg. It seems from your posts that you're not able to chuck this one in the Fuck-It Bucket at the moment. One thing I will say is that people are generally kind and understanding, if they think a colleague is in some distress. Would it help to write it all out? Even if it's just on paper and kept in an envelope for the period of your leave? It sucks when you feel it ended at work on a wonky note. What are your plans for leave? Good luck and keep going. Xm

OneFrenchEgg · 30/07/2023 11:30

Yes that's it. I wanted to go on leave with everything ok and it went wrong. It was already a weird birthday day. Somethings I can get past. I'm emailing myself ideas as they come to me (helpful ones, like points raised and responses I could have said) so that when I do the next one I can be productive addressing it rather than letting it sit.
I really feel more positive through people posting I've been able to eat a bit more and not just stay in bed going over and over it , that happened ten years ago and I was diagnosed with ocd and all the rest.

That's good. I really get the work stress aspect. I've put some plums and peaches in the oven for 20 minutes at 170 this morning, with a bit of butter and some maple syrup. It's come out as a lovely compote to have later with yoghurt (or ice cream...ahem). Today is an excellent day for ice cream.

Oh and a good tip if eating feels like a mountain to climb. Eat from the fridge - people under stress can feel that even putting together a sandwich can feel like too much, so it's ok to just grab ham and cheese from the fridge. then Eat a slice of bread. The deconstructed sarnie never hurt anyone.

Hi OP sorry I forgot you were on leave. I completely understand about leave and anxiety- have struggled with this when patients have been unwell and I'm worried all week if they are ok especially if had a very busy day on the last day of work. It really sucks as previous poster said.
What I've tried over time is thinking that the days off are there for me to enjoy and rest, and unless there is a specific action I need to act on ( handing over to a team member or asking a team member etc) to let it go as it won't alter the outcome, only will limit my leave.
Leave can be hard. But you can get through this and rest and enjoy it as you have every right to do. X

How are you feeling now @OneFrenchEgg ?

OneFrenchEgg · 31/07/2023 09:39

Hi, I've had time to let it settle eventually you can't keep being fizzy. I'm going to apply for a carers assessment, I've always been really scared they will take my kids away (ocd, I know) but I spoke to dh and he agrees and is very rational.

@OneFrenchEgg Glad to hear you have a forward-plan. One step at a time. It sounds like you have a supportive DH, which is helpful. Be good to yourself x

Good luck with the assessment for carers. Sounds like a good plan to me. Keep going. 🌹
