Like a questionnaire?

We suspect DS,22, may be on this spectrum.

Where should he begin?

I'll do it as a test.

AQ

There will be an adult diagnostic pathway
He needs to speak to the GP

Sorry, I got to the eye contact question and then it just said scroll down to next question but there wasn't a next question!

I'm using my phone so it may be different on another device!

Having just gone through this with the 7 year old, it is a bit of a process to get a formal diagnosis and the sooner you start the better. We did it initially via GP referral, using the FACT and FACT Plus that the SENCO at school did. That resulted in an initial consultation with CAMHS, then a paediatric psychiatrist assessment followed by a further assessment by another consultant. It was only after all that after all parties involved in the assessment process had met to discuss their reports and finding did a formal diagnosis follow. The interesting part for me was the statement ' meets the threshold' for a diagnosis of ASC.

Essentially it isn't black and white and for a proper diagnosis, you will need to go through the correct channels. I would personally raise concerns with the school SENCO first and take it from there.

Sorry, just seen he is an adult - GP is the way to go.

Thanks.

DS and we are suspecting he may be a bit autistic.

My hope is that if he can understand himself better, he may feel more comfortable.

His big issue is he has no friends. 22, no mates. He cannot form friendships, he doesn't have the tools to do so. He knows this.

He's at uni, but it's been quite a solitary experience.

He's accessing some uni counselling, but we'll see if that's any help.

My heart breaks for him, he seems so alone.
