Priory costs

Does anyone have an idea how much a week of inpatient treatment at a Priory hospital would cost?

Thanks

Has anyone been a mental health inpatient at a Priory hospital who can share their experience of whether it was helpful?

Thanks.

Can you give a bit more info? And why the Priory? Other organisations might be a better fit.

Fudgeandcaramel · 07/06/2023 19:44

Also which priory? Different ones have different reputations.

Summertime2 · 07/06/2023 19:50

A friend was in the Priory at New Year. I visited daily and it was appalling. Very little support, one psychologist session a week, lacklustre "groups". They were uninformed about her medications and her discharge papers were severely lacking.

I had assumed that for the astronomical cost it would be top notch but it is an absolute scandal.

I know that different Priory hospitals have different reputations though so this may not be universal.

Thanks @Summertime2. Which Priory was your friend in, if you don’t mind asking?

A bit outing but I've done the odd bank shifts at Priory Chelmsford about 4 years ago (based full time at another site) and wouldn't rush back there! But it could've changed since I last worked there.

What were the problems there @mollibu ?

Do NOT go to the priory Chelmsford.
It is a WASTE of your money

BeverlyBrook · 07/06/2023 21:44

If you need time out and help I would seriously consider a different setting. The glasshouse retreat or an all inclusive week on holiday where you can get a massage/ reflexology and nice food and good sleep for a week.
You could do zoom calls to a psychotherapist.

All that is better than the priory.
It is an absolute scandalous rip off.

BeverlyBrook · 07/06/2023 21:46

May we help in sign posting you to get the help you need?
Sometimes in the midst it's hard to know what to do, or who to talk to.

pukepoint3 · 07/06/2023 21:54

What kind of treatment?

What kind of treatment?

Depression and eating disorder

@HangingOnInThereJust The Roehampton Priory. I cannot emphasise enough how shocked I was by how pitiful the care was. The only exception I would say was perhaps for someone actively suicidal as I could see one or two patients were accompanied at all times presumably for this reason.

Patchw0rk · 12/06/2023 18:34

I had a long stay (9 months) at the priory in North London and it definitely had its flaws, but it saved my life.

However if you want treatment for an eating disorder, a friend had a terrible time at the priory (Roehampton) so then went into the ED unit in The Nightingale hospital in London and it's been life changing for her.

Both places are a grand a night.

If your eating disorder comes from a place of addiction, I can recommend a brilliant rehab (rather than a psych hospital) that I went to for binge eating disorder.
