How much do you get per prescription?

I am on 50g sertraline and I have to get a repeat prescription every month. Not under review, they just only give me 28 tablets at a time.

Can I request they give me more than 1 months worth of tablets? Or do they do this so that you have to pay more?

If you get a monthly prescription it's probably worth getting a prepayment certificate.

If everyone started getting more than one months supply it would cause stock issues in the short term. Often NICE guidance specifies how regularly certain medications should be prescribed. The primary aim of a 28 day supply isn't to charge you more money.

I get 7 days at a time, but I am an OD risk. I don't pay as I am on UC.

Used to get 2 months worth for ages, I think I had asked to change because it was difficult for me to sort the repeat & med collections with my disability monthly, but when they changed dosage it went back to 1 month, although i now I use pharmacy postal service so it's ok.
Its probably worth you getting a prepayment certificate.

At my medication review when I had been on the same dose for a year the doctor said if you're happy to stay on this dose for the forseeable I'll put you on three month prescriptions to save you having to order so often.
I didn't ask for it he offered but I assume that means you'd be able to request it.

It's probably to try and cut waste with unused medications and there has been a lot of drug shortages since the pandemic both human and veterinary.
