Just that really.
I've tried meditation music which has helped with chest pain but still suffer getting stressed in overwhelming situations, its getting in the way of me driving and overthinking sometimes.
I just want it to go away.

I don't have panic attacks just feel my chest get heavy and I feel really stressed.
Please let me know what's worked for you.
Confused

CBD. I had propanalol but that really only helps with the physical symptoms. CBD gets rid of the anxiety itself.

Please can I ask where you get this from xx

Yes I do too, I think subconsciously we don't realise all the things and thoughts building up in our minds and this is how it manifests
And also certain situations which will differ from person to person.
It's hard isn't it! Xx

Mixed bag of reviews then I think. I've been prescribed diazepam for 12 years, since I was 21. I'm on the highest dose of sertraline, and have been on citalopram before that. New Doc wants a me off diazepam (not my GP) and I feel genuinely distressed. I don't take it every day, only when I really need it, it's 2mg and I haven't had any for 5 days. Has anyone ever asked for a second opinion without looking like an addict? Third round of CBT starting next week. I feel hopeless, completely hopeless.

Propranolol didn't work for me. Neither did CBT. Escitalopram however did

Same. I've been on Citalopram for over 10 years and I am a different person, so much calmer. I've also subscribed to DARE which I am trying to implement into my life. The theory is that panic is part of who you are and it's how to embrace the feelings and not be scared of them rather than getting rid of them. It's very effective but takes a while to get used to and get your head around the shift in logic. Good luck OP 💐

Therapy. Expect it to take a little while.

Hi there. I know this is an old thread but was hoping to get some advice. I’ve recently been diagnosed with a panic disorder. They believe it’s trauma related. I had surgery, my grandma died and I had SEVERE side effects of a medication I was prescribed for Labyrinthitis. This all happened within the space of a matter of weeks. This resulted in me becoming suicidal and I ended up putting myself into the local mental health hospital. Best decision I ever made, as I knew that I couldn’t be at home. This all happened July/August time last year. I am currently on 150mg of sertraline daily. I am also on propanalol and also diazepam when required. I have tried accupuncture and now I also meet weekly with a CBT specialist. I’m trying everything in my power to get back to “the normal me”. I don’t feel suicidal, my mood seems alot better and I know I have improved alot, when I think back to were I was several months ago. My panic attacks come on completely randomly. I could be feeling fine, no anxiety then BAM. Hot sweats come on, heavy chest, burning around my chest and neck, start to get shaky then all I was to do is GET OUT of wherever I am! Fight or flight mode kicks in but I have no idea why I am feeling like this? I’ve found my journey with this disorder, very hard. I’ve got a great family support system but at times I still feel very alone. I’m looking for advice from anyone. Would be good to talk with someone who is in similar situation as me. I’ve got propanalol 40mg, 3 times a day and diazepam when required. Has anyone tried anything else?

Don't take medication without trying techniques first

Kerry8391 · 20/01/2024 13:19

Hey. Yeh medication has been my last resort, as I have been reluctant to take anything due to my past experience with awful side effects. Like I stated, I have had accupuncture, have a CBT therapist I go to see weekly and also trying to keep myself busy and as motivated as possible. Is there anything else you could recommend that helps you?
thanks
kerry

The psychiatrist recommended not to take propanalol for my daughter's panic disorder. He prescribed sertraline. Over time on that it improved. Panic disorder is not just 'nerves'. Her school called an ambulance each time it happened.

It might also be worth trying a magnesium supplement. There is now research that shows it can reduce anxiety. It's also good for sleep. I used to have panic attacks. I mostly don't any more, but was beginning to feel that way again recently. I definitely feel much calmer since taking magnesium, and I've stopped waking up at 4am.

Thanks for your advice ladies. I too have heard good things about magnesium so will have a look into that too. I take ashwagandha gummies everyday from
holland and barret. They are suppose to be good to help with your mental health x
