Exercise

Does anyone else use exercise to control their depression? I have to exercise regularly or I find myself slipping under again. Have just had flu and am feeling post-viral ( achey joints, very tired ) and I can just feel myself sliding again. Also, have recently been diagnosed with a foot injury which means no running for atleast 2 months - this was my life line and I'm feeling a bit panicky right now. I am absolutely desperate to start exercising again, even if it's just a dvd in front of the tv. I am totally fine just as long as I am fit, totally not when I'm not.

I use exercise to moderate my moods (which swing both ways so to speak) and to help ensure a good night's sleep. It's in conjunction with a shedload of meds that cause hideous weight gain so that's another incentive.

I suppose you need non-weight bearing type activity, like swimming? Was thinking of horseriding which is a real endorphin rush for me, but then so much weight goes into the stirrups this might be painful for you?

Can you go for longish walks? Cycling?

Other ideas for boosting mood might come to me in a minute
