Hypnotherapy CD for anxiety.....

I had several private hypnotherapy sessions over a year ago but the prices kept going up and eventually I couldn't afford any more. Especially since I got pregnant so money has become an anxiety inducer rather than a means to eradicate it!

Anyway, the therapist made me up some CD's to take away with me but obviously since I only got so far into my sessions, the CD's only work on so much anxiety if that makes sense. She still had "issues" to work into our sessions that she obviously wanted money for before putting them on a cd for me.

I recently bought a new hypnotherapy CD that is meant to deal with the full general range of anxiety feelings that cause lack of self esteem and confidence. I have started to do the cd but have no motivation at present to do it every day although I know I really should.

More Self Confidence from Justbewell.com

Has anyone else had any success with this cd or using hypnotherapy cd's without the back up of a personal hypnotherapist?

She really didn't think I was depressed but said I should be very wary of my feelings during and after pregnancy in case I develop PND due to my anxiety making my thought incredibly dark and bleak which sometimes spiral out of control....

Sorry to waffle on and thanks to anyone who has any advice to offer

sorry, no experience of hypnotherapy for anxiety but have you thought of seeing GP for referral to a cognitive behavioural therapist, a bit of a postcode lottery as to whether there'll be one in your area.

found a link to page about various therapies for anxiety

Thanks for your reply. Yeah - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy was recommended but not on NHS and it is way too expensive for me even though I know it would be worth it and "what price can you put on your health" but I need to eat so can't afford it and the NHS just don't cater for CBT in my area. Typical eh?

Thanks

there might be some good workbooks you can go through at your own pace, Jan Scott's excellent Overcoming Mood Swings seems to be in a series that also has an anxiety title but not sure how suitable you would find it? Overcoming Anxiety with new ones from only £4 plus postage There's a special one for social anxiety too.

This is not the same as face to face CBT of course but possibly has some advantages as you don't have any 'I don't think this therapist understands me/knows what s/he is doing' type problems. Anyway just a thought and best of luck with it all.
