Think dd has BPD and bullemia, how do I get her urgent help?

Dd was diagnosed last year with either BPD or bipolar disorder by adult mental health services (the diagnosis said either, they couldn’t be sure which) and was discharged back to her GP. She has since started university and her mental health has spiralled. She has joined the university GP’s practice but has come home because her MH is so bad. She is currently so up and down it is impossible to say or do the right thing. One minute she is on top of the world and the next she is threatening to commit suicide. Our home GP won’t take her on as they have no forms for me to fill in, and she hasn’t put a repeat in for her meds for the past month, despite being urged multiple times by me. On top of this she also has bullemia and is going through a very bad binge/purge cycle. I am so, so worried and upset for her, and just want to get her some help. There is also a 5 year old in the house and her behaviour is so erratic that I’m struggling to shield the little one from it. Can anyone give me some next steps? I feel like she needs an inpatient stay but am not sure how to even get a GP appointment as we aren’t near enough to go to the Uni doctors.

Call adult ss in the morning, maybe also cs re your younger child.
You could also try getting support from mind or the eating disorder charity.

Thank you so much. Thank you x

You need to get on the radar of the local CMHT
I would Google co tact details for your area and see if you can self refer
My DD has BPD and its so hard. She has been through a great therapy programme there is help to be had but it's hard to get there
I ended up writing to our local MP.

Can you not register with the GP online?

Sorry to hear about this. We had something similar in our family and got so desperate that we sought help privately. If it's a possibility, look up Dr Hollie Hearfield- we found her extremely wise and helpful (other psychiatrists are available)
It's a very sad fact of life that any support on the NHS is extremely difficult to access.

Thank you both so much. You have given me really helpful advice, I feel less panicked now xxx

If at any point you feel she is a danger to you or herself then go to a and e
It's not ideal but may get you the mental health team to have a look of nothing else

DBT therepy is what my daughter has been through over 18 months and it does help

We definitely need dbt help, she is on a knife edge at the moment, but we have got through the weekend, and got her some medication, so it feels like there is some hope now. It is such a hard road!
