what type of thing could a PIP payment be used for in order to help someone with ADHD please?
I'm thinking therapies / private prescriptions/ taxis to places
anything else?
TIA

Meal prep plans if their adhd means they struggle organise meals properly.

Cleaner.

A cleaner because you have ADHD? Really?

quietnightmare · 12/01/2023 21:51

Yes a cleaner for ADHD, some struggle with organisation

Lots of people struggle with organisation for various reasons, unless you’re physically unable to do it, a cleaner is not something you need the state to pay for.

Pip is meant to be used for things that assist you to deal with your condition whatever that may be. I assume you don't know many people with ADHD? I'm going to hazard a guess the OP means someone who has this of the more severe variety, it can actually be very debilitating.

it can lead to being easily overwhelmed with what other people may deem 'normal day to day tasks'. Disorganisation is often an issue, can lead to hoarding in more serious cases.

many people with mental health conditions also use their PIP to get help from a cleaner.

You can use it for anything……holidays…l.whatever you want

I’m not sure if you could ascribe PIP payments for private prescriptions - if you’ve been diagnosed, is your GP not giving you prescriptions that you could use a prepayment certificate for?
Id agree that having some sort of help in the home should be fine - but not if there are other adults who live there. The menial tasks shouldn’t all fall on your shoulder.
Perhaps things like having to work part time due to your ADHD would be ok?
