Yes normal, you'll probably have hot sweats at night too (I did). I hope they kick in soon for you.

people react to it differently but nausea is one of the side effects I believe. I had no issues when I started taking iit. I only had really bad nausea and dizziness when I went cold turkey for about 2 weeks. That stopped as soon as I went back on. Hopefully you should be over that phase soon.

MynameisJune · 12/01/2023 16:44

Nausea is normal, I find eating little and often helps.

i get insomnia the first night or so if I don’t take them early enough in the day so watch for that.

beebee83 · 12/01/2023 22:29

Thank you so much for that...yes today iv been eating little and often. I really appreciate it...waiting too see improvement I hope.

I felt like I had a constant hangover for the first few weeks.

The only long term side effect I had after that eased was jaw clenching on the day and teeth grinding in my sleep.

beepbeepme · 12/01/2023 22:39

Nausea is a common side effect but only lasts a week or two usually, I've taken them for a while, each time I started them I started with half a tablet instead of the whole one, for a week, then switched to a whole tablet.

talkingmorenonsense · 12/01/2023 22:45

I had to stop taking Sertraline after just two weeks. I couldn’t eat and when I lay in bed, I felt like I was choking to death.

beebee83 · 13/01/2023 07:23

Oh wow that's bad that you felt like you was chocking it wasn't for you that tablet, last night I swear was so tired but my eyes wasn't closing at all, ok I must of not taken it early enough yesterday I really wanted to sleep and I couldn't and this morning I feel like crap I feel like I'm hangover omg.
Coffee time.

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned to you - never take sertraline without a large drink. If you do you will get the worst heartburn imaginable. I did it once and honestly thought I was having a heart attack.

beebee83 · 13/01/2023 10:21

Thank you no no one mentioned drinking a large drink with it. I shall keep drinking water today to be safe. Thank you

The side effects honestly do wear off, if you can get through the first two weeks, and hopefully after two or three weeks you'll start to feel a bit better mood wise.

beebee83 · 13/01/2023 11:50

This is what I'm hoping for to see this through and hopefully i will feel better.

I take it right before bed to avoid the nausea and by the morning I'm fine, so I'm not even aware of the nausea.

beebee83 · 13/01/2023 12:02

Can I ask coz yesterday I took it Mid day and I couldn't sleep I was tired but my eyes wouldn't close so I took it early this morning in the hope I'll sleep tonight 😴

I had similar side effects at the start. They passed after a few days though. When my dose went up I had the side effects again, but less severe than the first time. If I miss a dose I notice my mood drop, but don't have any side effects with the next dose. Hope that helps.

beebee83 · 13/01/2023 12:11

Thank you I will keep at it iv been through worse just trying to gain some information as this is the first time I'm using this which I really needed came to braking point and no one to turn too xx

First 2 weeks were a bit ropey for me too with nausea but it’s been fine since. I take mine at night and I definitely echo the pp who mentioned drinking with it. The heartburn was excruciating!

Flanjango · 13/01/2023 12:36

My sons been on this since he was 12. He had nausea and a slightly upset stomach the first couple of weeks. He's been fine since (he's 17 now) and has had dosage increased with no side effects at all. It's been really helpful for his anxiety, life changing

beepbeepme · 13/01/2023 16:27

I took it at bedtime too to avoid the nausea, it didn't stop me sleeping, but everyone's different. If you can cope with the nausea it might be best to take it in the morning after eating breakfast. I take mine in the morning now, but only because my sleep is so bad, I don't want anything to interfere with it.
