Ds is 18 so can look after himself. Life feels overwhelming and like I can't carry on. Headachy and exhausted. Can't face the Samaritans. Anyone else just wanting to check out at 5pm?? I often do feel a bit better in the morning.

I normally go to bed around 6.30 Grin not to actual sleep, but I find it so relaxing to watch my programmes or read a good book in bed!

I'm in bed by 8:30 - 9pm for the same reasons as MeMyBooksAndMyCats

So... go for it! Do you read? I love reading in bed - pure escapism!

Whenever you feel you need to.

Whenever you need to. I suffered a difficult period in my life years ago where cocooning myself really helped when I felt overwhelmed. My bed was my haven where I could just rest and be away from everything. I always kept it positive in my mind, and it's important to note that I was working/exercising/getting out into the fresh air too, so I had balance in my life and it didn't become a negative spiral.

It helped so much, and I can still access that 'space' in my head if I need to, by snuggling down for a rest in my bed when needed.

You would go to bed if you had the flu why not for Mental Health issues.

Also, Flowers and I hope things feel better in the morning.

If you ever can't face the samaritans, there is a lovely continuing thread here somewhere (can't remember the exact title now) where people who live in other time zones or are up at night anyway watch your worries for you so you can relax/sleep. It really seems to work well to allow some relief from pain/sadness/worries/etc (anecdotally, of course).

TangledWebOfDeception · 08/01/2023 17:17

(basically you just pop in, give as short or as long a description of what's worrying you, and you leave it in the thread. It's gathered up and kept for you so that you no longer have to carry it. Mindfulness/meditation/mental exercise, really)

The best time is go whenever you need it, go now.;)

Hi OP I am sorry you feel so down. When I have had problems in the past I barely left my bed. So you are doing so well by actually being up all day!
I hope you feel better tomorrow.
And I have a tip which you might like to try, if you listen to or read a victorian novel like woman in white by wilkie Collins, it can take your mind off things. And many of the plots are so batshit complicated and nonsensical you can't help getting involved.
