Could I have PND already?

Hello all - it may be sleep deprivation that has made me write this or as well with such horrible back pain that I feel like PND has resurfaced since having DD2. She is just 2 weeks old and I feel so overwhelmed again. I dread going to bed and waking up due to the agony of my back and my mood has been such a rollercoaster.

With my 2nd baby I got pnd when I was 6 months pregnant (not called that now, but it no one had a name for prenatal depression back then. No one even talked about it. It was like it wasn’t real back then. And it lasted until baby was nine months old). No one really understood it at all.

But there are resources now.

I’d say yes, you could very easy get it at 2 weeks post birth.

seek professional advice/help. I do wish you well. It will pass.

It’s a bit too late to be baby blues, so I’d say yes. Get on to the GP today and nip it in the bud. I’d also let the HV know.

Contact your HV and/or GP today, don't wait to feel worse lovely. Everything will be ok. Get as much support as you need nice and early. This will pass 💐💐💐

It could be, and the sooner to get help the better. I agree to call your GP.

I hope you're feeling better soon and are able to enjoy your baby without the cloud that is PND (and back pain! You poor thing)

Thank you all for your replies. I spoke to a GP today who did offer to prescribe me codeine but I wasn't sure it would be ideal as I am breastfeeding. I rang the hospital's post natal ward and asked for further advice and explained that I was also struggling with my mental health. The midwife was so helpful and advised she requested a community midwife to check in on me and to check if I could take codeine. A community midwife turned up a little later and had long chat with her about my back/ feeling sad and overwhelmed. She was amazing and wanted to help with making sure I get suitable pain relief and support from the mental health team at the hospital. I am exhausted from it all now. Just need to take baby steps again so I can feel well.

I know this is basically resolved but from one breastfeeding mum struggling with her mental health to another, I really hope you feel better soon. Flowers
