Hi everyone, currently going through a really stressful/sad time for various reasons and have some very challenging physical health problems ongoing too with a lot of pain.

I wondered if anyone had any tips for getting through really difficult times - more smaller things/tips rather than counselling, medication etc (am accessing support). Thanks everyone for your ideas :)

3 books I swear by;

Responsibility Rebellion by Kain Ramsay
Before You Know It by John Bargh
Lost Connections by Johann Hari

All three deal with why we do the things we do and are full of 'aha!' moments.

In practical terms, learn about "square breathing." Use lavender oil freely as a scent, dotted on bed linen etc. Keep telling yourself "I can do one minute at a time." Know you are not alone. If talking helps you, find a good friend who will listen quietly. Sending best wishes

Walking in nature just focusing on that only for that 30mins or hour .
talking to family and friends or online support

Thanks so much everyone for your replies - I will have a try at implementing some of those things. Curling up with a nice fiction book sounds nice (I used to enjoy the escapism of that but haven't lately) and time walking in nature sounds good - currently injured but redoubling my efforts to get better, more yoga etc.

I'll check those books out too.

Thanks again all 💐😊

@notnotlongtoo really sorry to hear about your cat. Pets are such precious family members and it's always tragic to lose them :( 💐

My go to are.

A blanket if I'm snuggled I feel safer.
Gardening bit of nature.

Reading something gripping.
Doing a jigsaw

If you are able to do any excercise (I'd suggest swimming as little stress on joints) excercise makes me physically tired as well as mentally so sleep better .
