How find time for you?

inspired by the thread about how hard being an adult is.. how do you find time to do hobbies? I love painting but find it very difficult to mentally allow myself the time when there’s always other stuff to do. Also getting painting stuff out then put away and I feel like I should be doing a ‘proper’ painting, but I dont actually know what that is ( probably massive, in a gold frame!) and I’m not very good at it anyway, nothing like Pinterest and Instagram to put a girl off, it all seems enormous effort, easier to stick on a wash. But I do feel happy if I’m doing something for me. How do you do your hobby?

I've only managed to do structured stuff. I love reading but struggle to commit an evening to it. Whereas I've been consistently going to a yoga class because I have to book my place and then be there at a certain time. Tbh I'd rather Pilates but I haven't found a class at a convenient time.

Is there an art club you could join?

Or could you book in a child free day which you dedicate to painting, say once a month to get you started. I think once you've got started then the natural motivation might help you to be able to do it in smaller chunks in the evening.

"bookable inable" love that!

It's definitely a slog to get myself to do it. But it is worth it.

Also though I used to work evenings to save on childcare and gradually I just started to replace the working late with something nice.

Have you got a partner...if so are they doing there fair share of the evening chores?

I either cook earlier in the day when youngest is napping or cook the day before and cook for two nights, so my husband just has to bung it in the microwave.
