Severe anxiety - unable to look after toddler

So just that really, I have crippling anxiety and am not able to look after my dd who is nearly 2 😢 I can do short spells but other than that I am terrified to be alone with her. I don't even think it's just anxiety anymore. I have emetophobia and also feel very low. This has been an issue for about 8 months now but has gradually got worse whilst I've been waiting for CBT. Currently 3 sessions in but I don't feel like we've even touched the surface. Dr prescribed Diazepam last November and then 2 weeks ago pretty much said you're addicted to it so can't have it anymore. He has suggested I change from Citalopram (which I have been on for years) to escitaloprám which I have tried but too scared of the side effects of stopping/starting medication so still on Citalopram. I don't know what I'm asking I just feel so desperate and have feelings of not wanting to be here anymore 😢 I have called 111 on several occasions now feeling like this. I just feel noone is listening to me

Just offering some support, I had nasty GAD for maybe a year or a bit less recently. Like you, I have anxiety but it tipped into GAD when triggered by a difficult time.

I took propanalol to take the edge off it, was already on medication. It just went away over time and getting pregnant again but it was horrible. I think it can be linked to hormones and I wish there was more research about it. Also toddlers are difficult!!

Iron tablets and vitamin D are always good for women to take.

@Elliejane thanks for checking in, no I ended up changing to Venlafaxine after ending up in A&E suicidal! That was about 4/5 weeks ago now. It has helped with the depression and the anxiety to some extent but still need to work on both with the help of CBT. How are you getting on?

Really sorry to hear that . Hope you are feeling a bit better now .
I started escitalopram a few days ago but low dose 2.5mg and will gradually increase and take it day by day

@Elliejane definitely feeling better as in not suicidal but still a way to go. Taking it day by day is the best thing to do. Hope Escitaloprám works for you!

@Musomama1 thank you for your reply. I do hope it goes away over time and as my dd gets older hopefully things will be a bit easier. I think I might start taking iron tablets and vitamin d. Can't do any harm to try. Thanks again
