Hello I live in Birmingham UK. I’m looking for an psychologist to help me . I’m on benefits at the moment so can’t afford much . It’s to talk about regret and bad stuff I’ve done in my past. Any recommendations please ?

Self referral to IAPT services.

There is a king waiting list unfortunately.

Hopefully someone will come along with something better.

Do self refer anyway.

Adult Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme. You can self refer by completing the online form. Just Google IAPT self referral. There is a waiting list unfortunately but you might as well go on it.

Is there a reason you want a psychologist rather than a counsellor or therapist?

You might just need a new friend - one that won't judge you. Regret and remorse can be good if they make you turn away from negative behaviours or thoughts. I think we have a few people on here that would be willing to become your online friend. You need not confess to things that you think anyone will disapprove, of just knowing that you could have acted a bit more skilfully is enough to arrest any future unskilful thoughts or actions.
