Anxiety chest pain

Morning all

Something happened mid week that has triggered some anxiety related symptoms.

Yesterday the centre of my chest became very painful, and worse if touched. It hurts no matter my position and is worse if doing something (emptying the bin hurt).

I've woken and it's still here any advice on getting rid of it please, paracetamol did nothing, travel sickness pills usually kill anything there but didn't work either.

Is it time for diazepam? I try and save them for when really needed due to the difficulty in getting prescriptions now.

I would suggest ringing 111 or your GP

Thank you for your reply I understand why that would be your advice. Just hoping to find something that others have found works. It's 100% anxiety related.

Hi Op,

i get this too & i find it's mostly a psychological side effect to anxiety ( i have right now for instance after a stressful day at work.)

I find that i need to not fight it too hard and just sit with it, do some gentle deep breathing and take a few minutes to just breathe. Maybe write down your triggers and what you can do to help them. Also walking slowly around a park. oh and stay off the coffee and vooze

They all sound a bit daft and obvious but they are the only things that can elivate it in some way. Good luck, it's an absolute bastard isn't it. xx

Touch can be soothing, if you have a dog or cat try to focus on stroking them and breathing. My therapist also told me to touch my chest, eg not boobs but below collarbones area, with my hand. There's a list of things in DBT you can use to help with emotional regulation. My therapist recommended having a kit with things like an essential oil to sniff, or a photo of a much loved relative, as positive emotional prompts when you're feeling distressed.

Thanks both, tonight it is almost gone. Although my gut feels like it is suffering so working its way down
