Coming off Sertraline

I've been on Sertraline for years & had decided to try & come off for several reasons - I don't think it's working for me anymore & I've gained 2 stone in weight. Plan was to taper dowm but my prescription ran out so i just stopped taking them. I actually feel OK apart from awful nightmares/disturbed sleep. Could this be connected or just coincidence? I do fully realise that going cold turkey is perhaps not the best way to do this. Has anyone else experienced this?

You don’t say when you came off it?!

I ran out on Saturday so it has been 4 days

I'm coming off if after years. I tried to do it myself but couldn't. I'm now doing it with the help of a pharmacist. I've weaned right down over about 2 months. And have got to the stage of 12mg every other day, Then it will be every three days untimely I run out. You really can't do it yourself, and going cold turkey will
Make you feel awful.

I've come off it cold turkey twice (from the max dose). It's not recommended obviously but it's never been too bad. I think I did get some disturbed sleep definitely but it passes in a couple of weeks. It doesn't have a super long half life so you're already pretty far through the withdrawal.

I've just googled & apparently nightmares are a known side effect of stopping it suddenly. Will see how it goes I haven't ordered a new prescription yet...

I never had nightmares, but the dizziness was a big problem for me. I did fine for four weeks completely off it. But then with drawl hit me like a bus.
